New Model – Audemar Piguet New Automatic Caliber 3120![]() Hello Forumners I found the above picture in todays Basel/SIHH supplement of the “Neue Zurcher Zeitung”. It’s one of the first new models fit with AP’s new automatic caliber 3120, the case is in the style of the Jules Audemars line while the dial is reminiscent of their Metropolis perpetual world timer. Sorry, but I don’t have any other details on size, price and availability. The stats of caliber 3120 are the following: Diamater: 26.6 mm Height: 4.25 mm Jewels: 44(!) Rate: 21,600 bph Power reserve: 60 h Rotor: bi-directional winding, 22 K gold Number of parts: 278 The movement is based on AP’s handwind caliber 3090, other features include hacking, instantaneous switching of the date at midnight and quick set date. Interesting side-note in the article: Apparently AP’s sponsorship of the America’s Cup winner “Alinghi” cost a sum of 9.5 million Swiss francs/ $7.0 million. Regards Hans 4/1/03 |
