Industry News – Polar Explorer’s Watch to be Auctioned for Children’s Hospital
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – The Kobold Watch Company today announced that it would offer one of its handmade wristwatches at auction to raise funds for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. The watch, an exclusive one-of-a-kind mechanical chronograph, made for world-famous explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, will be auctioned off online at Ebay.com starting Thursday, December 12th.
Sir Ranulph Fiennes has been titled “The World’s Greatest Living Explorer” by the Guinness Book of Records. He was the first person to circumnavigate the globe via its polar axis by surface travel and has been credited with discovering the lost city of Ubar, the Atlantis of the Sands, in the Arabian Desert.
His dozens of expeditions have taken Sir Ranulph to the most remote places on earth. His watch, a custom-made Kobold wristwatch, is one of the sturdiest watches of its kind. Equipped with a sapphire crystal, which never scratches, a high-tech automatic-winding movement, and a surgical stainless steel case, the watch offered for auction is as tough as Sir Ranulph himself. All proceeds of the auction will benefit Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, as part of an effort on behalf of Sir Ranulph and the Kobold Watch Company to enable children who suffer to have a happier holiday season.
