The Elusive IWC 5251Part Four As a conclusion draws near, the few remaining features of this watch that I have not mentioned would include setting of the moonphase – by cycling back and forth between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., the hack feature – it hacks quite well, thank you, and the mysterious issue of the crocodile strap. In the Fox/Friedberg piece, we are told this watch comes on a tan strap. Mine came on a black strap. Perhaps IWC only had the two straps, serving as further evidence that only two of these watches were ever made. Doubtful, you say, and I concur, but who knows? The strap, measuring 22mm by 18mm, complete with an 18k gold buckle, may indeed someday hold the key to the mysteries behind this most unusual of watches!
