Only Watch 2007 is honored to enjoy the patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. In 2005, the first edition of Only Watch raised 1.9 million Euro which was contributed to international research teams, and to present scientific roundtables which are considered to be among the most important in the field.

The ideas that made the 2005 project a real success will also be found in the backbone of the 2007 edition:

  • A strong commitment to defend a noble cause and to allow children urgently waiting for a cure to have hopes of becoming adults. The first clinical results being very promising, we are confident in the fact that we will soon find a treatment.

  • A prestigious patronage.  We have the great honour and privilege to launch the second edition of this exceptional charity with the support of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, who has expressed his willingness to dedicate some of his time and renew its commitment to a cause, which fights for life.

  • The world most prestigious watch brands which, by the creation of a unique piece or a number one in limited series cause admiration, emotion and passion around values combining exclusive know how and scarcity.

  • The auctioneer ANTIQUORUM, by its high investment in the project and its key position between international buyers and sellers on the watch market, reassure as for the success of the operation. The team of the MONACO YACHT SHOW which also puts its energy at the service of ONLY WATCH 07 and the various partners who have and we will join the project.

Luc Pettavino, President of the Monaco Yacht Show and founder of the Monegasque Association against Muscular Dystrophy said "This whole event has been overwhelming from day one. I felt it right away”. The energy in the air was: “if you do it they will come”. With the end of the auction, the first part of the story finishes with class, humanity and glamour. The second part begins now : “ Time for a cure on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy”, time for research and more hope for the children, thanks to all of you.”

The aim of the Monegasque Association against Muscolar Dystrophy is:

    • To help children suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy
    • To sensitise the public to this type of pathology in order to provide better integration for these children
    • To punctually collect donations to help improve the quality of life of children affected by this pathology and to finance on this genetic illness
    • To favour, promote and encourage scientific and medical research in order for therapies that can also slow down and then cure Duchenne muscular  dystrophy to be put into practice as quickly as possible
    • To organize scientific round tables

    What is Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy?

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a genetic illness which affects young males: one child in 3500 is born with this illness. A severely degenerative disease, it is characterized by a progressive weakening of the muscles and leads to pulmonary and cardiac complications that in adult life can jeopardize the vital prognostic.                                                                    Consequently, the quality of life of children affected by muscular dystrophy is marked by a growing dependence on an environment that necessitates constant help and adapted compensations.                                                           Even if research has greatly progressed this past ten years, in particular with the explosion of genetics and thanks to the actions of associations, there remains much more to do to find therapies that will cure these children.
