2006 TimeZone Tour
Day 4 - Visit to Renaud & Papi and the Chateau des Monts Horology Museum
May 2007
After a brief lunch and a relatively brief coach ride, we arrived at the Château des Monts Horology Museum in LeLocle. This museum, located in an 18th century manor house, houses a wonderful collection of clocks, watches, and automata. Much of what is housed here here is from the Sandoz collection

Here Nick introduces us to our host for the tour.

...and on to view some of the wonderful pieces housed in this museum...

Skeletonized pieces from the collection of Henri Jeanmaire

Three more exceptional pieces.

A wonderful clock, complete with mechanical singing bird in cage..

Another beautiful click with automata. The workmanship on these is really phenomenal, especially when one considers when they were made.

Some smaller pieces now...

Exquisite workmanship on this clock.

One of my favorite pieces, a birdcage with clock on the underside. Phenomenal workmanship and mechanics.

Louis XIV clock, circa 1749.

Pendulum clock, circa 1700. Incredibly intricate workmanship on this one.

Three more beautiful pieces.

Another of my favorites...note the clock in the painting. It actually works, and is controlled by a mechanism from behind the frame.

Finally, some watches from the collection...

Before long, we needed to embark on our trip to Basel, where we were scheduled to take an overnight train to Dresden en route to Lange and Glashütte Original.
