Installment 2, page 2: Visit to the IWC Manufacture
by
Michael Sandler
July 2006
Our tour continued with a visit to the company museum, which is also located inside the manufacture. The fabulous pieces housed here tell the story of the company's wonderful watchmaking history.
Here are two wonderful pocket watches. Notice the incredible detail in the paintings and jeweling.
Several more pocketwatches from the early portion of IWCs history.
Three digital pocket watches.
....and a number of other pocketwatches which they have produced over the past 135 years.
...and then, of course, we move on to the wristwatches. Here are some of their very early models.
Of course no discussion of IWC would be complete without including the Portuguese line. Here are the originals...
....and more beautiful examples from IWC's designers.
Here we see some of the classic military watches, including the Mark series.
Next we see the Ingenieurs.
And here are some of the Porsche Design pieces.
Finally, as the museum tour comes to an end, we have a sampling of the complicated pieces...
The door to the museum is closed and locked as we exit.
From the museum, we head downstairs and outside, and from there into the machine shops which are housed in the newer sections of the manufacture.
