As it was now late afternoon, back we went to our hotel for a few hours’
well-earned leisure time.
But the day didn’t end there - Nick and Ron still had a few surprises
left!
*****************************
Later that evening we again boarded our luxury coach for a ride through
the countryside and our scheduled fondue dinner. Imagine our surprise
when we pulled up to the restaurant to the sound of Swiss horns
serenading us with traditional melodies - absolutely charming/slash/mindblowing!

Each of these hand-made, hand-decorated horns…

…is tuned to a different note, and the resultant deep, sonorous tones
had a wonderfully calming effect on us after a loooong day. No Ricola
jokes here!
Surprise #2 was even better - Jean-Claude Biver, erstwhile Blancpain
mogul and new Hublot acolyte - was waiting inside!

Anyone who has ever met J-C Biver will tell you that no more exuberant
and energized person exists on this planet, at least! Even
better, he had brought the new Big Bang Hublots with him!
After an enthusiastic, upbeat talk (what else did you expect?)…

…discussing the theory behind the new Hublot line and a fine dinner
(BTW, did you know that one drinks hot tea with cheese fondue, lest
one’s stomach turn into a hard mass?), Jean-Claude demonstrated his
‘Fusion’ concept, which links both steel and precious metals to Hublot’s
signature rubber straps…

…to Roswitha, Bernie, Jonathan and Greg as Rick and I look on.

Hey, you guys - get back outside!
Rick wound up with an autographed diagram of the Fusion concept...

Now to the watches (with apologies for the poor images, as lighting was
terrible and the flash photos just don’t do justice to these handsome
beasts):

Here’s a happy Colin with one of the Big Bangs on his wrist:

…and a wrist shot that’s almost in focus:

After a few beers, my new best bud:

…but methinks he had other plans in mind
(careful, Maureen!)
*************************************
So we’re all completely exhausted and ready for sleep, right? Naw, Ron
has to keep a group of us up into the wee hours of the morning, propped
up only by Alec’s cognac and a bottle of Aberlour!
A
fine day, was Tuesday. More soon.
Thanks to all the great people at Jaeger-LeCoultre and Audemars Piguet
for making this part of our trip both educational and immensely
enjoyable!
