40mm Black Label CS + 38mm Automatique + 40mm RG CS
The CS dial was completed redesigned to make room for the date on the dial of the Octa Automatique. The second hand subdial was moved to the far right almost reaching the end of the dial. The 5 o’clock hour marker is completely hidden and the 4 partially visible. Inserted at 9 o’clock is the power reserve indicator. Notice the smaller font was used for 8, 9 and 10 hour marks, and even smaller font on the power reserve (all even and in 20 hour increments). Journes name and trademark “Invenit et Fecit” was lastly moved right to make room for the big date placed just off center between the 11 and 12 o’clock hour marker.
I still feel the dial of the Automatique is not as balanced as the CS. I guess I just prefer the simplicity of the CS. With that said I often recommend the Automatique to the person who will have and wear only one nice watch and wants a date function.
The decision to go with 40mm vs 38mm is still of personal choice. The test is always how it feels on the wrist. You will just know.
