Featured Oris Limited Edition Watches: Jazz and Racing.

Over the last several years, Oris has made a series of special limited edition watches honoring great Jazz musicians of the 20th century. The Jazz watches exhibit unique styling, with case backs featuring the musician’s signature and in some cases, their instrument. The series includes such artists as McCoy Tyner, Quincy Jones and Miles Davis. Most of the Oris Jazz watches have sold out, but this fall Topper is featuring three remaining Jazz limited edition watches: The steel Duke Ellington, the steel Lionel Hampton, and the pink gold Louis Armstrong.

The Duke Ellington Watch

Duke Ellington helped forge the future of the Afro-American Big Jazz Band. The Duke Ellington watch is an exclusive special edition of 999 watches, all individually numbered. The watch features a tonneau case, black guilloche stamped dial, and a black leather strap. The individually numbered case back features the engraved signature of Duke Ellington along with an image of him at the piano. Lionel Hampton Limited Edition

The Lionel Hampton Watch

Lionel Hampton has long been a legend. Spotted by Louis Armstrong, he soon became a leading figure of the swing era. Together with Benny Goodman and John Hammond he wrote the history of jazz; and with other giants, such as Quincy Jones, Wes Montgomery and Tery Clark, he inspired audiences around the world. He is known as the undisputed king of the vibraphone. The Lionel Hampton watch comes in rectangular stainless-steel comes with the imprint “Lionel Hampton” on the black dial. The Louis Armstrong Watch

Louis Armstrong and the Limited Edition Pink Gold watch.

Even today, musicians revere Louis Armstrong as the King of Jazz. The Jazz watch is available in a 40 mm pink gold version. The watch was created in 2001 with a run of 100 pieces. The watch features a Mechanical automatic movement Display of hours, minutes and seconds from the centre date window at 6 o’clock stainless-steel case, water resistant to a depth of 30 meters, stainless-steel back individually numbered, scratchproof sapphire crystal, steel crown, dial with Arabic luminous numerals luminous indices and luminous hands, and a black leather strap with croco stamping and steel buckle. Williams Formula 1

The Williams BMW Watch

The Williams F1 team is BMW’s Formula 1 racing team. The Limited Edition Williams F1 watch is similar to the the new TT1 Diver Chronograph, but has a tachometer bezel instead of a standard dive watch minute counter bezel. This titanium watch features many extras: A stylish box, an imitation of a Williams F1 team racing steering wheel in 1/10 scale, and a mechanical part replica of one used in a real BMW racing Williams car. The watches come with several different parts, and each part comes with a label indicating the part’s function in the actual F1 race car. Each one of this Limited series of 2000 watches is individually numbered from 0001 to 2000. So far, the response has been even greater than the response to the McNish watch, which was the most popular Oris Limited Edition we’ve ever had.

Second, there is the Oris McNish racing watch.

The McNish watch is essentially a modified version of the TT1 lefty. The dial features a stylized tartan scarf, and the driver’s signature is engraved on the movement’s red rotor. The special-edition package also includes his helmet in miniature, a cardboard figure, a postcard with Allan McNish’s original signature, and a certificate with personal data.
