New York, July 1, 2003 – Luxury Swiss watch manufacturer Audemars Piguet has just successfully opened its U.S. flagship boutique at 40 East 57th Street (between Park & Madison Avenue, phone 212.688.6644) in New York City with a grand opening celebration hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Also, in celebration of the opening, the Manufacturer has issued a limited edition timepiece commemorating the Company’s new flagship boutique. The ‘La Boutique’ Royal Oak Chronograph, as it is known, is limited to only 150 pieces and offered exclusively at the new boutique in New York City.
In addition to the new ‘La Boutique’ Royal Oak Chronograph, the boutique offers the Company’s complete line of men & women’s timepieces. This is also the first time that the Royal Oak La Mer jewelry collection designed by Alberto Repossi and pieces from the one-of-a kind Haute Joaillerie collection are available in the United States.
The ‘La Boutique’ Royal Oak Chronograph’s (Calibre 2226/2840 movement) case is crafted in PVD (physical vapor deposit) coated steel giving the watch its dramatic black finish. The Royal Oak’s classic, octagonal bezel is retained with the jet-black dial offset by white numerals, a date display and an AP logo marking the 12 spot. The black crocodile strap with white stitching and stainless steel deployment buckle complete the overall look. The most striking feature of the watch design is found on the stainless steel case back where an exact replica of the boutique’s façade is engraved in meticulous detail. Surrounding the outside edge of the case back is the inscription ‘40 E. 57th New York’ denoting the boutique’s location in Manhattan. The watch is housed in a black wood box lined in black leather and the box top also has the same engraving of the store’s façade found on the case back. The “La Boutique’ Royal Oak Chronograph suggested retail price is $13,900.
Located in the highly fashionable Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue shopping districts, just opposite the famed Four Seasons Hotel, the boutique is much more than a simple brand retail outlet. “La Maison d’Audemars Piguet” is a true destination store for those seeking the finest in watches and jewelry. The world’s oldest independent manufacture still in the hands of the founding families, Audemars Piguet has been creating and marketing under its own name a range of Haute Horlogerie watches, particularly complex models, since 1875. The Company continues to uphold the values of tradition, excellence & innovation set forth by its Founders.
