New Model – Glashütte Original Automatic PanoMaticDate and PanoMaticLunar
In the Basel/SIHH supplement of the “Neue Zurcher Zeitung”, I spotted this picture of the long-rumored new GO automatics. The movement is based on a completely new construction (hence Union getting the old GO automatics for their Diplomat line) and has the following specs:
Diameter: 32.6 mm
Height: 7 mm
Jewels: 41 (47 with moonphase)
Rotor: uni-directional winding, 21 K gold
Regulators: 2 swan-neck type (like on the PanoReserve)
Without moonphase, the watch will be titled “PanoMaticDate”, with moonphase “PanoMaticLunar” and be available in steel, pink gold or platinum.
Certainly beautiful watches and probably a very good deal in steel but I truly wish that GO would finally stop copying Lange & Sohne’s every move. Last year GO brought out the PanoReserve which is more than just a little inspired by the Lange 1. Last year Lange bring out the Lange 1 with moon-phase so it was pretty predictable that GO would bring out a moonphase Pano this year. GO is a great company and I think they should do their own thing instead of peeking to the other side of the road all the time.
