Industry News – Burberry Watches Launched in Japan

In 2002, Burberry, a British luxury goods brand contracted with Fossil to produce and distribute Burberry branded watches around the world.

Beginning this April, Burberry watches will be available at department stores and watch retailers as well as Burberry boutiques all over Japan. Currently, Burberry watches can be found at U.S. high-end retailers and at the company stores.

Burberry was founded in 1856 when Thomas Burberry opened his shop to sell travel goods. Soon after that, Burberry gained fame with elegant and functional outdoor wear.

In 1955, Burberry was appointed as a purveyor to the British Royal family. The well-known “Burberry check” was introduced on a trench coat liner in 1924, and since then, it has been the familiar pattern of the brand.

The first collection for 2003 contains 50 models. Among them the Heritage, Signature and Endurance lines. All feature Swiss made movements and are assembled in Fossil’s newly acquired Swiss factories.
