Industry News – Vacheron Constantin’s New Factory
Vacheron Constantin has given shape to its project for a new international headquarters and workshops in Geneva by digging up the traditional first spadeful of earth on the site at Plan-les-Ouates, in the Geneva countryside.
According to Vacheron, its primary concern is to ensure the well-being of the 250 craftsmen and personnel that will work at the state-of-the-art facility, while optimizing the production.
The facility in Plan-les-Ouates, was designed by French-Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi, who won the commission in an international architectural competition launched on this occasion.
The new premises are expected to be finished in the spring of 2004, just prior to the 250th anniversary celebrations to commemorate the founding of the Manufacture in Geneva.
