Industry News – Jean Lassale Resurrected

Jean Lassale, who in 1976 created the then world’s thinnest movement, is back in business in Switzerland again.

The Lassale name had been sold to the Seiko Group in the 1980’s. Pierre Mathys, who designed the original, has unearthed a cache of new parts (made in 1977-78) and has reconstructed the original ultra-thin Jean Lassale.

The Caliber 1200 measures 20.8mm x 1.2mm, runs at 21,600 bph, with 11 jewels and a power reserve of 35 hours. The movement is anglaged and has “Cotes de Geneva” decoration.
