A Tribute to Gracie

Gracie was an extremely brave toy poodle owned by TZ regular Stan Sirody. Gracie was attacked by another dog on December 17, 2002, and suffered massive injuries. The initial prognosis was not good. Her injuries included: a torn open belly, torn spleen, herniated muscle walls, punctured liver and lung, severe bruising of muscles and organs, and several fractured ribs and vertebrae. The vet said he’d never seen a small animal suffer such injuries and survive. Gracie was in shock for 24 hours, then on December 19, she underwent surgery. Over the next several days, Stan posted updates on Gracie’s condition, and the TZ community rallied around to send Gracie prayers, vibes, good wishes, and anything else that might help. The reports on her condition were up, then down, then up again. On Christmas Eve, Gracie’s future looked promising, and we adopted her as TZ’s official mascot.

Sadly, on December 26, Gracie lost her battle. She touched our lives, and we will miss her.
